This documentary follows the actress Prunella Scales on a journey to discover the truth about the monarch she plays in a one-woman show: a mission to uncover the real Queen Victoria. Prunella ventures inside some of the most famous royal palaces in Britain. In these historic locations, largely hidden to the public in the past, she meets an eccentric and intriguing collection of descendants, historians, curators and writers, who shed new light on the story of Victoria. Threaded through this modern journey is the 19th Century story of the queen. Brought to life in dramatic reconstruction, Prunella plays the elderly Queen Victoria as she re-reads her journals and letters and reflects back on the defining moments of her reign.
