Through interviews with former POWs from the Second World War - War Behind the Wire evokes the times of ingenuity and painstaking struggle; the successes and failures of a range of escape attempts; and revisits the most notorious camps of them all: Colditz and Stalag Luft 3. The latter was the place from which the most famous escape of them all took place: the basis for the film, The Great Escape.
