Prince William and Prince Harry, amongst the most eligible young celebrities in the world, are in effect royal prisoners. Their every move is followed by the world’s press and just as their mother, Diana, Princess of Wales came to find, this is at its most intrusive in the area of their love lives. Even at St Andrew’s University, Prince William has apparently had to take refuge for a large proportion of his time in Gloucestershire and London. Prince Harry, the more garrulous of the two princes, has been able to be more uninhibited but, beyond the photographs of late night drinking and canoodling in London nightclubs, a deeper issue remains. Is the fate of the two young princes to be similar to their mother? Are they in effect two princes who for the second time in British history are prisoners in the tower - though this time the prison is that of the relenting gaze of the world’s media?
